Crunchy Chili Pepper Salad with Doenjang is an easy-to-make, flavorful side dish that's perfect for a quick meal. Combining the crisp texture of fresh chili peppers with the rich flavors of doenjang (Korean soybean paste) and gochujang (Korean red pepper paste), this salad is both refreshing and savory. It's a great dish to accompany grilled meats or simply as a standalone side with rice. The recipe takes just 5 minutes to prepare, making it a fantastic option for a busy day or when you're looking for a quick, yet satisfying, addition to your meal.

Ingredients:

  • Fresh chili peppers, 10 (Korean chili peppers or try others like shishito peppers!)
Seasoning
  • Doenjang (Korean soybean paste), 1 tablespoon
  • Gochujang (Korean red pepper paste), 1 tablespoon
  • Sesame Oil, 1 tablespoon
  • Minced Garlic, 1/2 tablespoon
  • Plum Syrup, 1 tablespoon
  • Sesame Seeds, 1 tablespoon

Instructions:

  1. Wash the chili peppers thoroughly under running water.
  2. Drain the chili peppers  well and pat them dry with kitchen towels.
  3. Cut the chili peppers into 1cm thick slices.
  4. To make the seasoning, combine doenjang, gochujang, sesame oil, minced garlic, plum syrup, and sesame seeds in a bowl. Mix well.
  5. Place the sliced chili peppers in a large bowl and add the prepared sauce.
  6. Toss the chili peppers gently with the sauce to coat evenly.
  7. Your Crunchy Chili Pepper Salad is now ready to enjoy! It's a perfect summer side dish that can be prepared in just 5 minutes.
