Shredded & Stir-Fried Dried Squid is a beloved Korean side dish known for its unique texture and rich flavor. The combination of sweet, spicy, and savory flavors makes this dish a crowd-pleaser, suitable even for those who are new to Korean cooking.

Ingredients:

  • Dried Squid, 180g
Sauce:
  • Mayonnaise, 2 tablespoons
  • Gochujang (Korean red pepper paste), 2 tablespoons
  • Red Pepper Powder, 1 tablespoon
  • Soy Sauce, 1.5 tablespoons
  • Minced Garlic, 1/2 tablespoon
  • Sesame Oil, 1 tablespoon
  • Sugar, 1 tablespoon
  • Oligosaccharide (올리고당 - can substitute with simple syrup or similar sweetener), 1.5 tablespoons
  • Sesame Salt, 0.5 tablespoon

Instructions:

  1. Rinse the dried squid in water twice and drain well.
  2. Mix it with about 2 tablespoons of mayonnaise and set aside.
  3. Prepare the sauce.
  4. In a lightly oiled pan, cook the sauce with about 4 tablespoons of water on low heat until it boils.
  5. Add the shredded dried squid to the sauce in the pan and stir-fry.
  6. Stir-fry quickly, ensuring the shredded squid is evenly coated with the sauce.
  7. Finish by adding 1.5 tablespoons of oligosaccharide (or simple syrup) and sprinkling sesame salt.

 

Notes: This dish is a wonderful blend of sweet, spicy, and savory, making it a versatile side dish for any Korean meal. Feel free to adjust the amount of gochujang and sugar to suit your taste preferences.
