Longer Description: Soy-Braised Quail Egg (Quail Egg Jangjorim) is a classic Korean side dish that's both delicious and easy to prepare. It's a popular choice for a simple yet satisfying meal, especially when you're short on time. These tender, savory eggs are simmered in a flavorful soy-based sauce, making them a favorite among all age groups. This recipe uses pre-peeled quail eggs for convenience, but you can always start with fresh eggs. The dish is not only a time-saver but also a delightful addition to any meal, offering a sweet and savory flavor that complements a variety of dishes.

Ingredients:

  • Quail Eggs, 270g (pre-peeled)
Seasoning
  • Water, 1/2 cup
  • Soy Sauce, 6 tablespoons
  • Sugar, 2 tablespoons
  • Oligosaccharide (올리고당 - can substitute with simple syrup or similar sweetener), 2 tablespoons
  • Mirin, 2 tablespoons

Instructions:

  1. Rinse the pre-peeled quail eggs under running water and set aside.
  2. In a pot, add the quail eggs and all the seasoning ingredients. Optionally, you can add green chili peppers or garlic for additional flavor. Adjust the amount of soy sauce and sugar to taste.
  3. Bring the mixture to a boil over high heat.
  4. Once it starts boiling, reduce to medium heat and simmer until almost all the liquid has evaporated.
  5. The eggs will start to take on a beautiful color.
  6. When the liquid has nearly evaporated and you see bubbles forming around the edges of the pot, turn off the heat.

Notes: Feel free to adjust the seasoning to suit your taste preferences. This dish is a great way to add protein to your meals and is as delightful in flavor as it is in appearance.
