Ingredients

  • Bean Sprouts, 300g
  • Crab Sticks, 140g
  • Green Onion, a little
  • Salt, 1/2 tablespoon
  • Sesame Oil, 1 tablespoon
  • Roasted Sesame Seeds, 1 tablespoon

Instructions

  1. Boil the cleaned bean sprouts in a pot with enough water, covered, until bubbles form. After 2 minutes, turn off the heat and let it sit for 1 minute before draining. Rinse in cold water and squeeze out the moisture.
  2. Tear the crab sticks into pieces by hand and finely chop the green onion.
  3. In a bowl, mix the bean sprouts with the prepared sauce (salt, sesame oil, roasted sesame seeds) and gently mix.
  4. Add the crab sticks and green onion to the bowl and mix until well combined.

Notes

  • Opening the lid while boiling the bean sprouts can lead to a fishy smell due to the release of lip oxygenase enzymes. It's best to keep the lid closed until they are cooked.
  • Using just salt can perfectly season this dish since crab sticks are already seasoned. A sprinkle of roasted sesame seeds adds the finishing touch.
  • Initially, the combination of bean sprouts and crab sticks might seem unusual, but it turns out to be a delicious match. This dish not only tastes great with the added crab sticks but also becomes more appealing to kids, making them enjoy bean sprouts more. The crunchy texture of bean sprouts combined with the sweet taste of crab sticks makes this salad suitable for both kids and adults.
